after some beauuutiful driving through the nevadan desert (and some hilariously immature jokes about INYO national park), we found a campsite just outside of yosemite. i was a little bummed at first that we got there at night and weren't able to really SEE the site, but then a giant orange moon rose right as well pulled in and lit up our perfect camp valley. we made a fire and popped open some beers and were some seriously happy campers.
we made friends with the guy managing the campsite---a full-time hiker, fisher, and off-the-grid cabin-dweller named richie. he and his cute pup, named dude (best dog name ever) kindly offered to play tour guide for us the next day!
richie and dude took us to bodie state park, some natural hot springs, and on a gorgeous hike in yosemite!
these hot springs were so unique, and had one incredible view. dude approves.
dude was an absolute champ at hiking! so great that i'm not totally convinced he's not part mountain goat... he and richie led us on a perfect late-afternoon hike to see half dome (in the background above^^^).
hiking is hard work, alright? so dude shamelessly cooled off in this little mountain stream.
richie and dude are so lucky to have this breathtaking view in their backyard. and how lucky we were to experience a day in their lives. i could definitely get used to this.
